Back in Austria

We are back in Austria and it is a mysterious feeling of feeling home. I feel home in Sweden too, actually wherever we unpack our bags we feel at home, but still this is special! It has been almost one year since our move to Sweden, and this is my first time back. B and the kids went in the summer.

Anyways, we booked a flight from Copenhagen directly to Vienna, and in the planning phase train from Gothenburg to Copenhagen seemed like a great idea. Then the closer we got, the more nervous I got about travelling with wild and wilder. However, the kids were amazing!!! Vince was really excited and stayed calm, only bribe was a Subway meal for lunch to bring on the train. Edgar still had a fever but was really in a great spirit too.
Vince fell a sleep before the plane left, and Edgar a few minutes later. Mr B slept too and I spent the flight reading magazines, just like in pre-kids days.

Tjolöholm Slott/Castle

This fall has been unusually grey in more ways than one. The temperature has been ca 7c colder than summertime, and it rains everyday it seems like. Hence the whole family now owns two pairs of rubberboots each.
Today I decided it is time for Christmas instead of grey and fall. As a perfect kick off, we went to the christmas market at Tjolöholms castle with some great friends.

Österlen get away

We have rented a cottage on Österlen gor a week. The views are gorgeous and the place has a soothing effect on us parents, and a speeding effect on the kids. So far so good! Tomorrow we are going to bike around and look at the area around here. Mr B just finnished breaking into his own bike, as he left the key to his super lock at home…

Tuscany in Pictures

We have had the most awesome week in Tuscany. We decided to drive back yesterday as it was hard to find a hotel for a few nights for a reasonable price. Apparently this week is the biggest vacation week for Italians and per old customs you must spend Monday (some saints day) by the ocean. Hence our early departure. The kids were amazing, and the 10 hour drive was rather painfree.

With that said, warning for picture overload:

Thankfully separated with two sets of stairs, so the kids never escaped without our attention to go down to the pool.

And what is better than renting a house together with people who like to cook gourmet meals for both lunch and dinner every day? Fresh fish from the local markets, lots of cheeses, breads, salami, grilled Tuscany steaks, lots of veggies and tons of fruits. And of course pizza! Amazing people, and luckily one of them is the kids uncle:)

Midsummer 2011

Even though we live abroad, we still try to celebrate Swedish holidays as much as possible. This past weekend was Midsummer in Sweden, and as Friday was a normal work day here, it was decided that we celebrated Midsummer on Sunday instead. It is always kind of interesting with the preparations. I have not lived in Sweden since 1996, and most of the girls are in a similar situation. Someone went back for a year here or there, but in general we have to celebrate in the way we remember and the way we think it is still done.
One of the easy things being around a bunch of  ‘foreign Swedes’ is also how we mix languages. In one particular conversation, I said a word and we could not for sure tell if that word is actually used in Swedish or if it is just something we have adopted in our everyday language after moving to Austria. Anyways, some pics from Sunday.
