I am a 34 year old Swede living in Austria, since 2006. My husband is Austrian and we met in the US where I lived for 10 years before moving to Alp-land. I am still trying to get over that culture shock.
We have two kids. Vincent, our first born was born on May 12, 2006 with an extra chromosome aka Down syndrome (Translocation 21;21). Edgar was born October 10, 2009, but only 46 chromosomes there.
I admit to thinking it was the end of all fun things when we go the results of the blood test showing our son had DS,that was 5 days after Vince was born. I was so wrong! Though everything is not easy, life s still a lot of fun! That extra chromosome really did not change much.
I started running again in 2011 and completed my first half marathon in October 2011. For 2012 I have at least two half marathons and a hand ful of other races planned.

That is the name of the malignant tumor my dad has. It can’t be cured. My feelings about it are undescribable. My dad has always been my biggest hero.
He will start a combo of chemo and radiation in 1.5 weeks approx. He will receive the max dose, of 30 rounds. We hope he will fight it off for as long as possible!

I am so sorry to hear this news. If there is anything I can share about what I went through with my dad is to talk to your dad about anything and everything. Talk to him as much as you can and hold on to all the wisdom he has to share. There are so many things I wish I could talk to my dad about. Sending you hugs and praying for a miracle.
